US Bans Chinese Chip Maker Over Security Concerns

The US Department of Commerce announced last Monday that is banning US exports to a Chinese chip manufacturer named Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Company, Ltd., citing national security concerns.

US companies are now prohibited from selling any products to Fujian Jinhua which is about to complete its new dynamic random access memory (DRAM) factory project.

The Chinese company and its Taiwanese partner United Microelectronics Corp (UMC) is also currently embroiled in legal battle in the US and China with US hardware maker Micron Technology who are accusing them of pirating its chips designs.
