US Consumers Now Trust Facebook Less Than Rivals
According to a new poll by Reuters and Ipsos, less than half of all US respondents trust Facebook to obey US privacy laws, while a poll by German paper Bild am Sonntag showed that around 60% of Germans believe that Facebook and similar sites may negatively impact democracy.
However, eMarketer analyst Debra Williamson said that it is too early to tell if people are ready to withdraw from Facebook which is already thoroughly ingrained in everyday life. She pointed out that customers of banks or other industries do not necessarily quit after losing faith.
Data provided by Israeli firm SimilarWeb seem to support what Williamson said as they found that Facebook usage on desktop, mobile and app had remained steady and well within the expected range.
