US is Attacking Europe with Tariffs, French Finance Minister Says

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said last weekend that the US should not consider the proposed 3% tax on tech giants such as Google and Facebook as an attack, and instead said that the country was the one taking an aggressive stance by imposing tariffs on European imports.

Le Maire added that the taxation is not taxation against the United States, but rather a fair and efficient effort at taxation at an international level.

Le Maire would also propose a “sunset clause” that would phase out the 3% tax once an international tax deal is reached.
