US Judge Extends Monitoring on ZTE for Violation of Probation

US District Judge Ed Kinkeade extended this week the term of a monitor appointed to asses ZTE’s compliance with US export laws. The monitorship, which was supposed to end in 2020, will now last until 2022.
The Dallas judge said that ZTE had made false statements about disciplining 35 employees involved in the illegal shipping of goods to Iran, a claim which had already be penalized by the Department of Commerce in April.
In addition to the penalty, ZTE also agreed to be monitored for 10 years to have the ban on it lifted.
