US Persuades Allies to Avoid Huawei

The US is reportedly asking its allies to avoid using Huawei services and equipment, and is considering increasing financial aid to countries that shun China-made equipment.

The US has already largely barred the Chinese telco giant from supplying within the country, a move that is being followed by a number of friendly countries like Australia. It is said that a chief concern of the US is the use of Chinese telecom equipment in countries that host U.S. military bases, such as Germany, Italy and Japan, according to a WSJ report.

The Chinese company has not yet issued an official statement on the matter, but did reveal that they were already able to sign 22 commercial contracts for 5G networks.
