WhatsApp Fined for Data Privacy Violations

European Union regulators are ramping up enforcement of data privacy policies against U.S. technology companies. Ireland’s Data Protection Commission issued a 225 million euro fine against WhatsApp for failing to inform the bloc’s residents about the gathering, use, and sharing of their personal data with other Facebook units. This fine is the second largest meted out since the beginning of the enforcement of the GDPR.
