Wikipedia to Use Google’s AI-Powered Translation Services

The Wikimedia Foundation announced this week that it has partnered with Google to make its articles available in more languages.

Wikipedia editors will now have the option to use the AI-powered Google Translate, in addition to Wikipedia’s in-house tool. Google Translate is said to be capable of handling 15 more languages, which includes Zulu, Hausa, Kurdish (Kurmanji), and Yoruba, than Wikipedia’s Apertium

The Wikimedia Foundation also stressed that no personal data will be shared with Google whatsoever, and the translated content will still be available under the Creative Commons license.
