Zuckerberg: Facebook Acted Swiftly on Russian Interference

Mark Zuckerberg defended Facebook’s response to Russian election interference this week, following a New York Times report which said that the company had deflected criticism on the issue and instead had a PR firm write negative articles on its competitors.

Zuckerberg said that they acted swiftly on the Russian challenge and supported regulation against harmful online content. He also revealed that Facebook will be creating an independent body by 2019 to review ban appeals.

The Facebook CEO also said that they are seeking to increase accountability of removal decisions and ensure they are not being driven by commercial reasons.
