DARPA to Invest $2 Billion in Artificial Intelligence

The Pentagon’s high tech research agency, DARPA, announced that it will be making a $2 billion investment into artificial intelligence.

Deputy director of DARPA’s Information Innovation Office, John Everett, said that the investment comes at a good time and should accelerate progress from two decades to just around five years. He added that if the investment bears positive results relevant to military and national security, they are likely to invest more.

It is said that DARPA will be focusing its investment on systems that have common sense, contextual awareness, and improve energy efficiency.
