EU Data Watchdog Opens Probe Into Facebook Breach

The Irish Data Protection Commissioner said this week that it will be conducting an investigation into the massive breach that Facebook recently revealed.

The DPC said that the investigation will be focusing on Facebook’s compliance with its obligation under the GDPR to implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to maintain the security and safeguarding of the personal data it processes.

However, Facebook said that investigators found that the hackers did not access other sites that use the social networking site’s single sign-on. Security experts also remarked that the social network may have already considered a worst-case scenario when it disclosed the breach to ensure compliance with the GDPR.
