Facebook to Probe Glitch in Hate Speech Removal System
0 comments
It was recently reported that Facebook had failed to remove hate speech on its platform even after it had acknowledged to the user who had reported it that they would be taking action.
The user said that the hateful posts and group stayed online despite the company’s reply. However, it seems that she was sent an automated message since Facebook staff ruled that the content should stay online.
The user revealed that some of the groups she reported had posts that were anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant. Meanwhile, Brandie Nonnecke from the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (Citris) said that Facebook’s problem with its system presents a huge breach of trust.
