Google Expected to Face Record Fine from EU

The European Commission is expected to hand Google with an antitrust fine that exceeds the landmark 2.4 billion euro penalty it got back in 2017.

The decision, which will be confirmed on Wednesday, is said to be the most important of the three antitrust cases against Google because of the broader scope of the Android case since the tech giant was able to make its ads appear in more smartphone apps than its rivals.

Even with the decision, it is said that Google’s popularity could mean an uphill battle for EU antitrust regulators aiming to level the playing field for the competition.
