Fake Ethereum App Found on Google Play

Slovakian malware researcher Lukas Stefanko revealed this week a fake “Ethereum” app on Google Play which is being offered at $388.

Stefanko tweeted that the app is a scam intended to defraud users by posing as the legitimate cryptocurrency with the same name which was worth approximately $290 at press time.

The app was labeled as developed by a so-called “Google Commerce Ltd,” and has seen over 100 installations since the last update in August 2017 by the time of the report.

The offending app has already been removed by Google.
