New US Tariffs Hit Cloud Industry, Exclude Apple Products

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) confirmed last Monday that some Apple gadgets and other consumer electronics will not be included in the latest tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese goods.
However, while the Apple Watch and AirPods were left off the list, the iPhone was not. The 10% tariffs on approximately $200 billion worth of Chinese products also heavily hit the cloud industry as parts for servers, networking, and production of semiconductors were levied.
Trump also warned that he will be implementing phase three, which is tariffs on approximately $267 billion of additional imports, if China retaliates against US farmers and industries.
