Tech Firms to Attend White House Quantum Computing Meeting

Tech companies including Alphabet and IBM will be meeting with administration officials and academics at the White House to discuss government efforts on boosting quantum information science.
Quantum computers, which can be a million times more efficient than current supercomputers, can significantly impact various industries. It also carries major national security implications as the technology could potentially break traditional cyber security.
The U.S. House of Representatives already approved last September 13 legislation on quantum information science that will authorize $1.3 billion in funding through 2023 for the creation of a unified national quantum strategy.
